Dr. Arup Barman(b.1972) is a Reader in the Department of Business Administration, Assam University, Silchar (Assam), India. He is a recipient of Post Doctoral Research Award-2009 from SAB, UGC, India. Scholarship from Global Development Network (GDN)and Centro de Implementacin de Polticas Pblicas para la Equidad yel Crecimienton (CIPPEC ), Argentina, How to formulate a policy influence plan", that begins on Monday May 2nd, 2011; funded by DFIDand DGISfor Capacity Building for Policy Development He is recipient of scholarship to pursue the public policy research course 2010 initiated by Global Development Network (GDN) and CIPEC. The International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, England published his profile in the Dictionary of International Biography (edition-35, 36). In the March2011, International Whos Who Historical Society, USA enlisted his credential in International Whos Who directory. He is an Accredited Management Teacher (AMT) of All India Management Assocaition, New Delhi; a Fellow of Indian Society for Business Management, Chennai; a Fellow of Hind Agri-Horticultural Society (FHAS). He is an Associate of Indian Society of Applied Behaviour; and was a visiting Associate of Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla.
He did his Ph.D. (2007), PGDip.TD (2002) and M.Com-1996 worked as faculty Member in Pandu College, Guwahati till Dec 1998 and then he joined as an assistant professor in the department of Business Adminstration, Assam University. Dr. Barman has 55 numbers of research papers in his own credit and attended 12 numbers of international conferences, and 10 national seminars. He delivered 20 numbers of invited lectures in the various forums. Dr. Barman worked as state research partner for the project Evaluation of Village and Public Telephones of Project Sponsored by the Planning Commission, GOI in the year 2009. Dr. Arup Barman represented Assam University since 1st Dec, 2010 as an active member-researcher in the working group of Academic Guidelines Project for implementing the principles of United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) of UNO.

He is a member of HRM- Network of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Member of E-MAPS UNESCO; a member UNESCO-IBE community of practice (COP) forum, and also a key contact point for Assam Universitys innovations program under affiliation of Global Universities Network for Innovation (GUNI, Barcelona, Spain). He is also a key contact point for Assam University programs for United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). Dr. Barman is Chapter Head of Management Teacher Consortium (MTC), of Assam Chapter and also a member of core committee of MTC. His main areas of research interest are- HRD, Application of I-TRIZ, and International HRM and HRD, Community HRD Programs, Appreciative Inquiry for Excellence. He is a consultant for evidence based management.
